Post Super Bowl Thoughts

Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers in winning their record sixth Super Bowl title, 27-23.  Trailing 10-7, the Cardinals had a chance to take the lead (or at least tie the game) right before the half, but James Harrison's 100-yard interception return for a touchdown gave the Steelers a 17-7 lead at the half.  The Cardinal defense held the Steelers on consecutive goal-line stands (after a roughing penalty on 4th down gave the Steelers a first down at the 1) and held the Steelers to a field-goal, making it 20-7.  That stand allowed the Cards to come back thanks to a circus catch by Larry Fitzgerald, making it 20-14 and then a safety cut the lead to 20-16.  Fitzgerald finaly broke a big play in the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals a 23-20 lead before the Steeler offense made an outstanding drive to win the game.

Sunday Night Football on NBC Sucks

I have steadfastly avoided NBC's Football Night in America for one reason: Keith Overbite.  I had to watch this past Sunday because my Carolina Panthers were playing against the New York Giants.  Having watched for the first time, I can say this.  Keith is not the only reason to avoid this show.  It's dull.  It's bad.  It's three pencil-necked geeks and a midget commenting on football.

Looks Like I Have No Choice Sunday Night
The Carolina Panthers (11-3) are just two wins from locking up the number one seed in the NFC. Their success this season has triggered the move of their Sunday game to the late game that night. Their matchup against the New York Football Giants (also...
Reminds me of 2003
So, I waited all day to watch the Panthers opener against the Chargers. We had someone putting in new hardwood floors, so my house is upside-down. The big-screen living room TV is in the kitchen floor and the rest of the stuff in my house is packed into...

The IOCC is a Joke
Okay, let me get this straight...baseball and softball will no longer be olympic sports, but Rhythmic Gymnastics and Speed Walking are? What a crock of crap. And the head of the IOCC said that the reason that they were both bring cut is because of the...

Squirm, Cheese Eater!
Alain Bernard boasted before the Men's 4x100 Relay that the French would "crush" the Americans. Thanks to a Herculean effort on the final leg (against Bernard, no less), the American's made the French eat those words. Watch Bernard squirm...

Take that, You Cheese-Eating Surrender Monkeys!
Michael Phelps and the US men's swimming team obliterated the world record in the Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay, defeating the favored, trash-talking surrender monkeys from France by eight tenths of a second to take the gold medal. Take that...

Panthers Draft Recap - Day 2
The draft started at 10AM. Holy crap. I thought it was starting at noon. I went to church, didn't set the DVR, figured I'd come home, fix a sammy and some chips and watch the draft. Nope. I missed all of round 3. And since they traded their round...

Panthers NFL Draft Recap - Day 1
Well, I was surprised by the pick at 13 (Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon). I know we need to run the ball better, but we need an O-Line more. The analysts all like the pick, but I'd rather have gotten OL Brandon Albert AND traded up to get Jeff Otah...
