The Only Thing This Liberal Plan Will Stimulate is...Liberals
What the President calls a "stimulus plan" is nothing more than a ruse for Democraps to fund all the liberal, socialist ideas that they know would never get funded if the public knew anything about it. The Obamassiah has asked the GOP to keep politics to a minimum in the debate on this plan, but he's said nothing of the sort to Scary Barbie and Dingy Harry as they have loaded the stimulus plan with a troy ton of pork and spending which is not the least bit stimulative.
The plan, as it now stands, includes paybacks to all of Obama's supporters: teachers unions, greenie-weenies, the socialized medicine crowd, and the pro-abortion ghouls. Money to sow grass on the National Mall. Woohoo. Money for contraception and family planning under the ghoulish idea that reducing children is good for the economy. (yes, Nancy Pelosi actually said that and has since stood by her assertions). Billions for so-called "neighborhood stabilization activities". In other words, community agitators organizers like ACORN. Money for education that is twice the annual budget of the entire Department of Education. Money to expand Medicaid coverage and SCHIP, making the government responsible for more health-care than the private sector. The list is endless and the bill is over 400 pages, so its impossible to find all the nooks and crannies where the pork has been stashed.
What about all the tax relief that President Obama promised? Didn't he say tax cuts for 95% of all Americans? Well, President Billy-Bob promised us a middle-class tax cut in 1992, but we never saw that either. As Rep Kevin Brady (R-TX) points out:
"Workers, meanwhile, get to keep on average a meager $1.35 more a day of their money, which won’t send families rushing to the mall. Yet their government spends in this bill, with interest, an amount almost equal to all the personal income taxes paid by Americans annually."
They call it a "stimulus plan" and urge it's quick approval because the economy is in dire straits and we have to do something fast. Yeah, that worked well with TARP. We were told then, too, that we just had to hurry up and spend $700-billion or the economy would grind to a halt. Turns out the hysteria was, as usual, unwarranted, and the bailout plan that we so desperately had to pass quickly actually did little if anything to help the economy. In fact, the markets went up when the first vote on the bill failed, and then went down when it passed a few days later.
This new plan is no different. It will do little or nothing to help the economy, but it will help liberals. And the Democraps are using the same hysteria over our struggling economy to ramrod this thing down our throats with little or no consideration. And since Nancy Pelosi changed the House rules, Republicans can no longer offer amendments or alternatives. As such, they have no choice but to vote against the bill. House Minority Leader John Boehner is calling on Republicans to do just that and has been very vocal about his opposition to the spending in this plan. Thank goodness.
Everyone is telling us that this has to be a bi-partisan bill. Obama is urging bi-partisanship. All the pundits are saying it. Why? As the Obamassiah pointed out in his first meeting with the congressional Republicans, he won. He has the votes to pass this stinker without a single Republican vote. He needs bi-partisanship in order to marginalize the right and to provide themselves cover if this thing blows up and makes things worse in the long-run.
If Republicans support this plan in large numbers or if the Republican leadership calls for it's members to vote "YES", they can't then run against the plan in the future. And, if the public gets wind of the stuff that is in there and if they get pissed (which they undoubtedly will), the Democraps can say, "hey, don't blame us, it was a bi-partisan bill. Republican's supported it, too."
But, if Republicans can finally find some spine and stand up in unison against the bill, they can make it an issue in the mid-terms and drum a good many worthless Dems out of office. If it then turns out to be as big a stinker as I think it is, the Republicans can then hammer Obama with it in 2012, as well.
Want to understand what a horrid piece of legislation this thing really is? The Heritage Foundation rightly calls it the Pelosi-Reid-Obama Debt Plan. If you have the stomach for it you can find the text of the bill here.
