Thinking outside the box has a place in life. Invention and innovation are all results of someone that took an idea from outside the box.

But thinking outside the box can also mean opting to cross a river hand over hand along a high tension power line rather then using the foot bridge 50 feet away. Thinking outside the box with United States economy and my money is not going to be an option.

Since your history seems to be lacking, I showed you several examples past and present that demonstrates socialist style government has a failure rate approaching 100%. I would say 100%, but in all fairness France, Cuba and North Korea haven't given up yet.

Better to let someone else think outside the box and make it work before I bet the future of my country on it.

re: Economics

I have a question for you, TV. Have you ever considered thinking outside the box? I don't think so. You think in absolutes and you assume that I do to. And It's precious hard to have an intelligent--let alone productive--conversation with someone who views the world with such a myopic perspective, IMO.

re: Economics

Any reliable, well researched high school level or better heistory book will show that socialist, communist systems have failed every time.

But forget the book. Lets have a look at world events happening in the last 30 years.

- Russia got a clue and bagged communism.

- China dumped it in favor of a free(er) system, leaving Hong Kong completely untouched.

- North Korea is a disaster. The people are starving in a land that degenerated to just barely above the industrial age.

- The French economy is about to implode. Business is fleeing France faster then they are fleeing the US. It is estimated that French taxes will have to make 100% in five years to cover all their social spending and still keep the government running.

- Cuba is just now starting to realize that their population wants more then government assigned jobs for their life. (It only took them 30 plus years.) Their agricultural production is way down, their industry is almost non-existent now. If it weren't for exports form government owned farms they would have no economy.

In fact, I don't think you can name one successful, growing, socialist economy out there.

Even if there were such a place, would you really want to live the kind of life that comes when the government makes all your major life decisions for you? Where you are going to school? What you are going to take? What you are going to do for a living for the rest of your life? What medical treatments you can and/or will get? Where are you are going to live?

Not for me, thanks.

But with my limited capacity to understand what you have written thus far, I believe what you are describing here is the gambling scenario which every economist is blaming for our current predicament. Clever investment strategies based upon futures and derivatives and such. Am I following you? No need to answer. I'll read the next installment and perhaps that will clarify your meaning.

Tell me, where do I find that one-and-only history book? I'm referring to the MAGIC history book that you have read?
